SHORT COURSE (CORR) TRUCK POWER SYSTEM INFORMATION

Special care must be taken with short course truck power set-ups. The reason is that these vehicles are significantly heavier than what has generally been the weight of a 1/10th scale vehicle. Weight directly correlates to the amount of power it takes to move to a specific speed. Twice the weight, twice the power. All Castle Creations systems are capable of putting out way more power than they can handle. This is the nature of a somewhat unlimited high power system. The weight of short course trucks can easily create a situation with Castle Creations systems where the motor is putting out more power than they can handle. If care is not taken with motor selection and gearing, the result will be a heat damaged motor that can easily damage the ESC and possibly the batteries all at once. Not a good thing!

TWO WHEEL DRIVE SHORT COURSE TRUCKS
Two wheel drive short course trucks can be run with the Sidewinder SCT combo and Mamba Max Pro 4600kv and 5700kv combos on 2s LiPo or 6-7 cell, high quality NiMHs. Higher Kv motors (6900, 7700 and 9000) are not recommended in these vehicles as they will run at high temperature and with increased risk of damaging the motor and other components in the system. Gearing with the 4600kv and 5700kv motors should start out as high (small pinion, large spur) as possible to keep the motor within temperature limits. The maximum temperature should be no more than 180° F (82° C) degrees at the end of your driving session. As an example, a 4600 on a 2s LiPo in a Slash 2WD should be geared 14/90 initially to test motor temperature.

After tests are done to ensure motor temperature will stay below the maximum recommended temperature you may gear up, but do so in small increments. Be sure to test the motor temperature every few minutes whenever you change the gearing in your vehicle.

FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SHORT COURSE TRUCKS
DO NOT USE CASTLE CREATIONS 1406 SERIES MOTORS IN 4X4!
Castle Creations 10th scale 1406 series motors cannot be used in a 4 wheel drive short course trucks. The additional drive train drag and increased weight of these vehicles compared to other 1/10th scale vehicles will burn up any of our 1406 series motors. These vehicles can be run very well on our Sidewinder SCT combo, SCT Race Pro combo, Mamba Max Pro SCT combo, and some vehicles may even be able to use a 1/8th scale system for even more power if desired (such as the Sidewinder 8th combo, Mamba Monster 2 and Monster X combos). Be sure to check if the motor and ESC will fit in your vehicle prior to purchase.

Please check the gearing chart for more detailed information on which product to use in your particular vehicle.
