350X350 Hill Hold (2)

HILL HOLD FEATURE FOR COBRA 8 AND COBRA 10

WHAT IS HILL HOLD™

It is basically a drag brake on steroids.
It allows the ESC to apply a MUCH stronger braking force to the motor than normal.
This allows the motor to hold vehicles on a steeper incline than the normal drag brake would allow.

WARNINGS AND DISCLAIMERS

Hill Hold is intended for use in rock crawling applications only!
Setting the Hill Hold too high can result in high motor temperatures.
Leaving the car at neutral, with hill hold engaged, for long periods of time will increase motor temperatures.
Only use Hill Hold if the standard drag brake at 100% isn't strong enough.
Always start with the lowest Hill Hold value:
Only increase if it is not strong enough and motor temps are in check.

HOW IT WORKS

When the drag brake is set to 100%, and the vehicle is not moving, the Hill Hold feature engages.
It will only engage if the motor is not spinning.

It even works if using the Auxiliary Wire programmed to "Drag Brake Adjust" or "Rock Race/Crawler Mode";
when the aux wire signal sets the drag brake to 100% (>1.9ms), Hill Hold will be active at neutral.

If the motor temperature reaches the "Motor Temperature Cutoff" set in the ESC, Hill Hold will disengage.
(Requires sensored motor with sensor wire connected to ESC)

HOW TO ENABLE HILL HOLD

Requires the Castle Link V4 adapter, a Windows PC, and Castle Link 2 app installed

1. Connect the ESC to the Castle Link adapter as normal.

2. Go to the Brake section on the left side of the screen.

3. Select the Hill Hold strength from drop down (start with lowest).

4. Make sure Drag Brake is set to 100% AND/OR Auxiliary wire mode is set to
Rock Race/Crawler Mode OR Drag Brake Adjustment.

5. Click "Update" in top right, under USB Connection boxes.
