CC BEC Usage Advisory #1: Multiple Servo Setup

PROBLEM:
High power digital servos in larger helis overload CC BECs and the heli can be lost.

SOLUTION:
Use a larger output BEC or use multiple CC BECs wired as shown in the Multiple CC BEC Setup Diagram. Yes, this is VERY awkward. We are working on a better solution for high current applications.

EXPLANATION:
CC BEC is rated to deliver a MAXIMUM CONTINUOUS output of 5 amps when the input voltage is in excess of 12V DC. Our tests show that ONE JR 8717 servo draws 2.2 amps under load. A system using just 3 of these servos (not counting tail servo, receiver or gyro) would draw more than 6.5 amps during flight. When one adds in the draw of the tail servo, receiver and gyro, the load is much more than the 5 amp continuous load the CC BEC is designed to handle with greater than 12V input. CC BECs will eventually shut down due to an overheating caused by the overload.
